on tropes in Predictive Processing

Sounds like behavior would likely follow a pattern, one which exists at a scope wider than the box of momentary individual narrative. Wether we call it a trope, a morphogenetic field, a platonic form or a meme – it can be triggered by cues. In Magic 1901 Yeats suggests that an imagined symbol is enough of a cue. We can posit that Predictive Processing is attracted to such tropes. More often than not, affecting a change in PP is tantamount to evoking a meme already accessible to a person, or else downloading it from culture or noosphere. The art of hypnosis might touch on the mastery of said patterns – picking on the right cues to nudge a meme along. (A classic example of non-verbal hypnosis is offering a handshake.)
